The Canberra Choral Society (CCS) and Luminescence Children’s Choir presented Immortal Bach, a program of heavenly choral music in the intimate and historic setting of All Saints Church, Cowper Street, Ainslie.
The music of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1750) always provides a thrilling experience for choir and audience alike. The audience was transported by such delights as the motets Lobet Dem Herrn; Jesu Meine Freude; Komm, Jesu, Komm, and Der Geist Hilft, and the exquisitely moving final double chorus from Bach’s St Matthew Passion.
This concert of Bach’s most loved choral music, performed entirely in German, was directed by Dan Walker, CCS Music Director, in collaboration with accomplished musicians Dr Anthony Smith (Organ) and Lindy Reksten (Continuo).
