A Gleam of Solace

A Gleam of Solace

Saturday 28 March, 5.00pm
The Q - Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre

Unfortunately, because of the risk from the COVID-19 virus to our audience and choristers, this concert has been cancelled. We apologise to our friends and supporters.

Canberra Choral Society is proud to present an uplifting concert of music featuring some of the most beautiful works written over the last three centuries.
As we come out of one of the worst bushfire seasons in living memory, we have put together a program that inspires hope, solidarity and friendship. From the instantly recognisable styles of contemporary composers Arvo Pärt and Ola Gjeilo, to Bach’s iconic motet ‘Jesu Meine Freude’, this intimate program showcases the human voice’s vulnerability, its beauty, and its ability to inspire.
Join us at The Q, Queanbeyan’s Performing Arts Centre for an evening of wonderful music making.

‘You rise in perfection on the horizon of the sky, Living Aten, who started life.’

Pharaoh Akhenaten

Almost every facet of our lives is shaped by the movement of the sun and the moon. It’s no wonder that composers and poets throughout history have been fascinated by their beauty, their power, and their mystery.

Canberra Choral Society is delighted to present this intimate performance of glorious music inspired by the heavens: including music of the 12th century mystic Hildegard of Bingen, the stately grace of Edward Elgar’s Lux Aeterna, Scottish composer James Macmillan’s uplifting motet O Radiant Dawn, the work of Parisian prodigy Lili Boulanger, and works from contemporary composers Eriks Ešenvalds and Australian, Alice Chance.

Join us in the beautiful surrounds of Albert Hall as we take you on a journey skyward, exploring light, life, and the great expanse beyond.
