Does your 2016 bucket list include these?
- make new friends
- do something for myself
- do something for my health
- have fun
If so, it’s time to action – by auditioning to become a member of the Canberra Choral Society!
The benefits of being in a choir go way beyond singing – friendships with people from all walks of life; the great satisfaction that comes from being part of a bigger project; and many well-documented physical and mental health benefits.
So why choose CCS? Well, in 2016 we have a great range of concerts, starting with “From Byrd to Britten: 400 years of English choral music” in April. Other concerts will include two collaborations with Canberra-based orchestras on two of the biggest pieces in the repertoire; the next Handel oratorio presented by Tobias Cole; and the Christmas Story by 17th century German composer Heinrich Schütz .
Tempted? Our next round of auditions will be held in May. So if you can read music, sing confidently and commit to weekly rehearsals on Monday nights, contact us and we will be happy to book your audition. We know you’ll be nervous, and we don’t expect perfection – just prepare something to sing, be willing to ‘have a go’, and keep going even if you make mistakes!
