We bid goodbye to our Great Performances at the Albert Hall series with mixed emotions – joy at the experience of revisiting the glory days when this beautiful venue was the centrepiece of Canberra’s musical life, and regret that we’ve come to the end.
The concert on 13 July featured many guest artists who brought back memories of great performances, and we thank them all. There were also some particularly poignant moments for Canberra Choral Society – we marked the very beginnings of CCS’ performance career by entering Albert Hall singing Handel’s Hallelujah chorus in memory of our first concert there, in 1965, and finished with the Amen from Messiah in memory of the concert we gave there ten years later – our last concert in the Albert Hall during that era. Goosebumps!
Thanks to Peter Hislop for these wonderful photos
Thanks to all our guest artists: Louise Page, Christopher Lincoln Bogg, Anthony Smith, Barbara Jane Gilby, Veronica Thwaites-Brown, Katie Cole, Joy McDonald and the Turner Trebles.
