Relax before dinner with the sounds of Canberra Voices

Hmm, what to do before dinner on Saturday 22 March?

  • Mow the lawn
  • Surf the internet
  • Relax at a beautiful pre-dinner concert of music by Canberra composers.

If the last takes your fancy, join us at the Belconnen Arts Centre from 5pm on Saturday 22 March. Canberra composers can be cheeky, uplifting, political, ethereal, rhythmic, entertaining, sublime, and everything in between — which makes for a great concert!

We began exploring local composers in 2013 with The Best Choral Music Ever Written by an Australian with a Canberra Connection (the longest title in the program of the Canberra Centenary!). Our audience were amazed at the richness of the music of our city, transported by its beauty, tickled by its wit, and urged us to present more.

So we are thrilled to begin Canberra’s second century with Canberra Voices, a concert featuring more works by Calvin Bowman, Daniel Brinsmead, Sally Greenaway, Ruth Lee Martin, Anthony Smith, Olivia Swift, Martin Wesley-Smith and Sally Whitwell.

The backdrop of Lake Ginninderra provides the perfect setting to showcase our five choirs — CCS Chorus, CCS New Voices, Kompactus, Luminescence Chamber Singers, Turner Trebles — and Anthony Smith (pianist), under the direction of CCS Artistic Director Tobias Cole.

And there are plenty of restaurants nearby so you can have a relaxing dinner afterwards!
