Immortal Bach

Saturday 16 September 6.00pm

Canberra Choral Society & Luminescence Children's Choir

All Saints Anglican Church, Ainslie

The Canberra Choral Society (CCS) is delighted to present Immortal Bach, featuring Canberra’s own Luminescence Children’s Choir, in a program of heavenly choral music in the intimate and historic setting of All Saints Anglican Church, Cowper Street, Ainslie.

The music of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1750) always provides a thrilling experience for choir and audience alike. Expect to be transported by such delights as the motets Lobet Dem Herrn; Jesu Meine Freude; Komm, Jesu, Komm, and Der Geist Hilft, and the exquisitely moving final double chorus from Bach’s St Matthew Passion.

This concert of Bach’s most loved choral music, performed entirely in German, will be directed by Dan Walker, CCS Music Director, in collaboration with accomplished musicians Anthony Smith (Organ) and Lindy Reksten (Continuo).

Rejoice in the Lamb

CCS presented two performances of Rejoice in the Lamb – a program of English sacred music from the 19th and 20th centuries. From Charles Parry’s blockbuster anthem I Was Glad to Imogen Holst's gentle and introspective Hymne to Christ, the program is a sublime combination of peaceful and rousing tunes, always joyful and hopeful.

Friday 8 April, Wesley Uniting Church, Forrest ACT

Saturday 9 April, St Saviour's Cathedral, Goulburn NSW
